Louisville Chapter

The Louisville Chapter of the United States Association for Energy Economics is committed to expanding the reach of energy information in both the private and public sectors in the State of Kentucky, and surrounding area.

Its goals are to:

  • provide for the mutual association of persons interested in energy economics in order to create a forum for professional discussion
  • provide a means of professional communication and exchange of experience and ideas among persons interested in energy economics from within Louisville and the surrounding area
  • educate the community on energy economic issues

Anyone interested in the array of issues affecting energy economics--including theory, markets, public policy, and the environment--is invited to join and actively participate.

Annual Energy Outlook 2009: The Changing Outlook for America's Energy Future

Speaker: Paul Holtberg

WHAT: Key aspects of results from the Energy Information Administration's Annual Energy Outlook 2009 (released December 2008) will be presented. Particular focus will be on issues that indicate how America's energy future is changing, with an emphasis on electricity generation.

WHO: Paul Holtberg is Director of the Demand and Integration Division in the Office of Integrated Analysis and Forecasting at the Energy Information Administration. Mr. Holtberg heads one of the divisions responsible for completing the Annual Energy Outlook (AEO), which provides forward-looking analyses of energy demand, supply, and prices for the mid- and long-term domestic U.S. energy market. The AEO is produced using the National Energy Modeling System and other models dealing with the energy demand and supply. Mr. Holtberg also frequently works on service requests received from the Administration, Senate, and House on proposed policy using the modeling framework.
