The United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE) Virtual Case Competition is a team-based competition focused on energy economics, open to teams of current students. Participating teams will work on the designated case problem over a period of three weeks and submit a written report detailing their methods and solution to USAEE. A complete solution to the problem will require teams to have knowledge in economics, engineering, and policy analysis. The two teams with the best solutions will be invited to present their results at a virtual event on August 15, 2020.
By participating in the USAEE Virtual Case Competition, students will be able to demonstrate their skills and ideas for potential employers and can win monetary prizes while contributing to solutions for challenging current energy economics problems. The prizes will be $3500 for the first-place team and $2,500 for second place.
The competition is open to students from all over the world. Teams need not be USAEE/IAEE members to register and send in an entry. Any combination of students is permitted (mixed majors, mixed undergrad/grad, mixed universities). For additional details, refer to the registration form. Team registration forms must be submitted by July 6, 2020.
