IAEE/USAEE Webinar | Energy Shockwaves: The U.S.–Iran Conflict, Strait of Hormuz Closure, and Global Oil Markets
Thursday, March 19 | 10:00 a.m. EDT
Jointly hosted by the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and the United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE), this timely webinar examines how the escalating U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran is reverberating through global energy markets and policy. As reported, the joint strikes in Iran—including the killing of Iran’s leader—have intensified regional instability and contributed to Iran’s move to close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint that carries roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments, amplifying price volatility and uncertainty for governments and industry. Moderated by Edmar Almeida (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; PUC-Rio Energy Institute), the discussion brings together Bill Farren-Price (Senior Research Fellow and Head of Gas Research, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies) and Kevin Book (Managing Director and Head of Research, ClearView Energy Partners) to unpack near-term supply and shipping risks, knock-on effects for gas/LNG and refined products, and the policy choices now confronting consuming and producing countries alike.
Registration is required; there is no fee to attend this webinar.
The March 19 panel will be the latest in a series of timely webinars addressing events and emerging trends affecting the energy sector that will be jointly presented by IAEE and USAEE.
This webinar is presented in collaboration with the LSU Center for Energy Studies (CES).
